Nintendo Channel Wrap-up

While many of us were at school and/or work this past Wednesday Nintendo was making our wiis glow with the U.S. launch of the Nintendo channel. With this nice little addition wii owners will be able to watch previews, checkout user feedback about game and download demos for their DS all from the comfort of their couch.

After you finish downloading the channel and accept user agreements the first thing you’re greeted by is something of an intro video which transitions into Miyamoto talking about Wii Fit.
The setup is a little confusing at first because they dump you right into the video section but if you back up a screen or two you can find what I believe to the gem of this new channel: the DS demos.

There is only a handful right now but hopefully that will change quickly.
Another feature of note is the huge Nintendo database which lets you search by a number of ways such as genre, esrb rating and keyword. Nintendo has also been very tight lipped about what wiiware games (Nintendo’s next big system update) will be available at the U.S. launch, on the Nintendo channel video we finally find out that Dr. Mario RX, Defend Your Castle, Critter Round Up and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: My life as King will be among those available day one.
