PS3 Online will suck slightly less. Update 2.4 promises XMB.

Sony announced accidentally that Firmware Update 2.4 will be coming out soon for PS3 and VideoGamesBlogger.com [1] picked it up.

What does this mean to you the hardcore gamer and frustrated PS3 owner? Well, it won't suck QUITE as much. The patch is rumored to drop in June 2008 and will add friends list, messaging, and soundtrack manipulation, since if you're anything like me, you're getting very sick of the Muzak developers are dropping on us in menu screens these days!

"Sony is well underway with the release of the PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 2.40. It’s estimated to be ready for download sometime in June 2008.

PS3 Firmware 2.40 promises to add some of the most requested features, most notably it will add an in-game XMB menu. Expect more details in the coming weeks.

New features will include:


* A universal friends list;


* In-game messaging;
